The International Dyslexia Association was founded in memory of Dr. Samuel T. Orton and was formerly known as the Orton Dyslexia Society.

The IDA is the only nonprofit scientific and educational international organization exclusively dedicated to the study, prevention and treatment of the problems of the specific language disability known as dyslexia.
